How we check the official prices in our AI model API pricing table.

The AI model API pricing table lists what each provider charges on its own API, in US dollars per million tokens. Every price is read from the provider’s official pricing page and shows the date it was last checked; changes go into the price change log. These are the rules behind it.

Where the prices come from

We read each provider’s official pricing page: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google’s Gemini API, xAI, DeepSeek and Mistral AI. Aggregators and resellers are not used for prices, because their rates can differ from the provider’s list price.

Context windows and maximum output come from the provider where it publishes them. Where it does not, we use OpenRouter’s model listing and name it as the source on the model’s page.

What the numbers mean

  • Input and output are standard list prices in US dollars per million tokens, before taxes, credits and negotiated discounts.
  • Cached input is the rate for tokens read from a prompt cache. Cache writes is the rate for storing them, where the provider charges for it. Anthropic charges more for a one-hour cache than a five-minute one; both are on the model’s page.
  • Sample request is the cost of one call with 10,000 input tokens and 2,000 output tokens at standard rates. It puts models on the same job; your real cost depends on caching, reasoning tokens, retries and tools.
  • Long-context pricing applies when a provider charges more above a prompt size. Google sets the line at 200,000 tokens for Gemini Pro models.
  • Peak and off-peak. DeepSeek charges half price outside its peak hours. We show the peak rate, which is the higher one.

Status labels

Current is the newest model in a line that the provider recommends. Previous generation is the one it replaced and is still sold. Older covers earlier models still listed on the pricing page. Deprecated follows the provider’s own label.

How often we check

Every price shows the date it was last checked against the source. When a price changes, the model’s page is updated and the change goes into the price change log with the old rate, the new rate and the date it takes effect.
